Four years ago, the Wombats men claimed Commonwealth Games gold in Birmingham, capping off a successful campaign that saw all four Australian basketball teams finish on the podium.
Today in Glasgow, the Wombats return with one goal in mind: defend their title.
Veteran Luke Pople returns to the Commonwealth Games after playing a key part in the team's 2022 success.
"Winning gold in Birmingham was really special," Pople said.
"We had a great group of boys that got the job done. Another awesome thing about the Commonwealth Games is having able-bodied and disability sport competing on the same stage."
Pople will lead a new-look Wombats outfit alongside fellow Paralympians Tom O’Neill-Thorne and Eithen Leard, with Victoria Marvels talent Tomas Klein rounding out the quartet.
"As a team we embrace that we are now the hunted, but at the same time it's business as usual," he said.
"We can't get too far ahead of ourselves and have to take it one game at a time."
And as for what the audience can expect in Glasgow? Pople kept it simple.
“It’s going to be aggressive, dominant, and exciting.”
The Wombats open their Commonwealth Games campaign against England in the early hours of Saturday at 1:35am AEST. Tune in live on Seven, the Official Broadcast Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
